More comedy adventure with the furry duo

Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse sees the crime-fighting duo saving the universe from the power-crazed Space Gorilla General Skun-ka'pe.

This demo lets you play the opening sequence, where you'll have to escape a cage, and send the mad gorilla into an alternate reality. It all seems a little confusing, which isn't surprising as this story starts at the end! The events that lead up to this chapter will be chronicled over the five-episode Devil's Playhouse series.

Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse plays just like any other point-and-click adventure - you have an inventory of items you have found, can inspect, talk to and interact with the environment. Sam & Max have always been characterized by good comedy writing, and nothing has changed there.

The new feature of Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse seems to be that the rabbit, Sam, has somehow developed psychic powers, which give them lots of new ways to solve puzzles and save the universe! The graphics are well produced, cartoon-style 3D, as has become the norm for Telltale games, and the sound too is excellent.

The only real criticism of Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse is that it's more of the same - if you're not a fan of point-and-click adventures, this won't change your mind. The story is linear, all you have to do is work out how to keep it moving.

Sam & Max The Devil's Playhouse may be more of the same, but that means it's a funny, polished and engaging point and click adventure.
